Well, last Thursday, Iraq War Army veteran Daniel Branham officially received that home in Mt. Pleasant. We’ve got video below sharing the special day for Branham and his his fiancé, Lillian, and their dog, Blue.

This inspirational military veterans story is a follow-up to a story originally shared by the folks at Hero Giveaways – the group that supports injured veterans by raising funds for the Healing Heroes Network with awesome giveaways like the Harleys and Gas Giveaway. Hero Giveaways initially shared the story of Darius Rucker, country singer and founder of Hootie & the Blowfish, surprising combat veteran Daniel Branham with the keys to a free house recently on the Today Show.

Here at Built USA, we are happy to share the happy ending to this wonderful story. Thank you for your service Daniel Branham and best of luck in your new life on the coast of South Carolina.

Iraq Veteran Daniel Branham’s Story

Here is some background on the Iraq War combat veteran as initially shared by Hero Giveaways.

Branham became an Army specialist in 2005. While serving in Iraq, the military veteran sustained multiple combat-related injuries from improvised explosive devices. During the attack and while injured, Branham drove his Stryker Army defense vehicle to rescue nine of his fellow soldiers from a chlorine gas attack, according to a joint release from Rucker and sponsors of the home giveaway.

“Specialist Branham solely delivered his fellow soldiers from immediate danger and further injury. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect distinct credit upon himself, Iron Company, 3rd Squadron (Wolfpack), 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment (Dragoons) and the United States Army,” the statement said.

Branham was awarded many medals for his actions, including the Army Commendation Medal.
