A West Michigan postal worker by the name of Samantha Rose Gentz has recently pleaded guilty to victimizing an army veteran by opening her mail and even stealing her medications. Her sentencing occurs tomorrow in federal court.

Court records have indicated that during her time of employment, Gentz opened at least 15 pieces of mail while she worked at the Muskegon Post Office last year. Among her many victims was army veteran Laurel Hill.

Laurel Hill is more than distressed by the situation because she was forced to go over a week without her medications. Hill was quick to admit that this lapse of missing treatment certainly caused complications. Hill also feel as though drug charges should be in order for Gentz.

Hill shared with reporters,

“Twenty-two veterans a day kill themselves. I could have easily been one of those”.

Hill left the army in the late 90’s and has since been suffering from post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. She has had to be on medication to treat her severe symptoms associated with PTSD ever since she came home. However Hill went into a panic when she found that she never received her refill for Ativan never arrived in the fall of 2015.

After battling back and forth with the Muskegon Post Office, Hill did not receive an explanation or her prescription.

“My children had to witness me going through severe depression, hallucinations, suicidal ideation,” Hill said.

Hill will soon be in court to speak about what she went through.

“I also would urge the prosecutors if they can find any drug charges that they can charge her with… she should be charged. This needs to be brought out because this needs to be stopped,” she said.

At this point in time it appears that Gentz could be sentenced to 6 months in jail or a year probation.
