The NFL season is just underway but as exciting as the games have been, media attention has been slowly shifting from the field to the sidelines as a National Anthem protest is starting to pick up steam across players. Most notable of whom at present os San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who kneels during the National Anthem.

Teammate Eric Reid mentioned the protest was about institutional racism. Colin Kaepernick did say that he would not stand “to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

One of the earliest protest was done in the 1968 Olympics as Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their fists in the air during the playing of the anthem.

Now, there are a lot of NFL athletes following suit. Here are LA players, Kenny Britt and Robert Quinn, raising their fists in the air.
