Death of One American Soldier Too Many

The attack occurred around 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Jalalabad, according to Maj. Gen. Mike Murray, deputy commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan-Support.

This shooting of an American soldier by an Afghan National Army soldier marks the first U.S. service member killed as part of the Resolute Support mission. The statement also reported that the incident continues to be investigated and reviewed by Resolute Support and Afghan authorities. When it is appropriate, according to the statement, more information will be released.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of this American soldier.
